Sometimes I up come up with good ideas even if I know nothing about the topic, this was not one of those times.

Don’t Use Chocolate, Try Vanilla

My sister-in-law was having trouble potty training her three year old little boy.
He was so smart and advanced in most things & he was a tremendous joy.
Except for this one thing, which seemed to be vital for his mom and dad?
I had no children then so I had no idea how to potty train this little lad.

But I suggested putting him in his potty chair with something he likes to eat.
Then it wouldn’t seem like such a chore it would turn it into a treat.
“Great idea,” my sister-in-law said, “That sounds like a winner to me.”
“He’s really picky about what he eats so something special it has to be.”

He loves chocolate ice cream; if anything on this earth will work it’s that.
So she filled a big bowl of ice cream giving it to him on the potty where he sat.
An hour later ward, he said, “Can I get up now Mommy ‘cause I’m really done.
She went over to him, and screamed so loud she scared us and her little son.

You’d think he just won the Olympics’ or some championship game.
“He did it, she yelled, “He went in the potty, he’s finally potty trained.”
We baked a cake; we bought balloons, we celebrated for hours without care.
All because a smart little boy went number two in his little potty chair.

She went to clean up the potty thinking she must be in a wonderful dream.
Suddenly she, realized  she was dumping a pot of melted chocolate ice cream.

hee, hee, hee...
I know a few potty training stories! hee, hee, hee...
I must admit that due to all of the horrific stories I heard before I started potty training my own children, I waited until the child was ready before pushing the issue. It just wasn't worth it any other way! I always had to laugh when my friends said, "MY child was potty trained at 12 m. old..." (or some other ridiculous age) and then I would see them watching the clock so that they could take their child "potty" every 20 minutes...It always made me wonder who was really "trained?" hee, hee, hee....
