This is one that should be Horror/Humor because it was not a funny situation at all. And this story happened many years after the accident that I had never talked about before for it was much to painful...
I will let you know that this wonderful boy was paralyzed but he lived. Thank God he lived and he is a true inspiration to all those that had the privilage to meet him.
I Meant Mouth to Mouth Resuscitation but…
One busy day in my beauty shop after having a stroke,
I was still confused about many of the things I spoke.
I was telling a story about a near drowning episode.
About a person coming to take me to their next-door abode.
A young man dove in their pool and he never again surfaced.
They got him out but he wasn’t breathing, it was such a sad case.
I gave him artificial insemination and got him breathing again.
I never realized I said the wrong word, for I was still on the mend.
But Rosie the gal I hired, kept shaking her head and turned red.
She said, “That’s not the word you wanted, try this one instead.”
Mouth to mouth Resuscitation is what you did to save that boy.
“What did I say?” I said, and the shop went into laughter and joy.
My face got hot until I thought I’d have another stupid stroke.
But they were so good natured about it and took it as a joke.
Oh, how many times I get words messed up in this crazy head.
But that was the only time; I actually wished I were dead.

this is a wonderfully, down to earth tale that is so worthy of sharing -- most of us have made similar errors -- but do not like to admit it -- I know I have made my share of verbal blunders and still do -- thanks for sharing this story Bonnie -- peace and love to you -- JMW
Oh, boy, and I thought I was alone in tongue tanglers. One time, walked into this woman's room, when I was a medic in the Air Force? Went to check the baby's heartbeat (fetal heart tone). Did I say that? Nope. Hetal Fart Tone. LOL Poor lady laughed so hard, she 'bout fell off the bed and went into labor. Or the time I was working at Sears, making an overhead page: "Pickage pack up, please, pickage pack up." LOL Nope, understand how embarrassing things slip out when least expected, BELIEVE me. (Almost typed "Ebleeve me." LOL) Well done, and glad you didn't inseminate that guy. :D
LOL...I am still laughing. What a funny episode. I am so happy you bravely, shared it with us. Don't worry, we all flub our lines once in a while. Those funny moments make up for the grief we endure other times. ~ Sara
My father, a farmer, didn't know what a shovel was after his stroke. An eloquent speaker before his stroke, he still struggles sometimes with finding the right words, although it has been about 15 years since his stroke. I remember he called my niece, Sariah, "shower" for a few weeks after he came home from the hospital... :~)
Strokes are difficult to overcome and sure can be scary...
My favorite humorous story about saying the wrong word, actually comes from my friend's mother who had a brain tumor. She was selling Amway and at a big meeting of potential clients she stood up and told the whole group that the toothpaste had cured her gonerriah...the clients turned red...some stood up to leave... she insisted that it really had cured it... Finally someone kindly stood up and suggested that maybe she meant gingivitis instead... hee, hee, hee.... Yep! Sure enough... that was the right word...gingivitis...
