I Laugh At YOU!

A wise dear friend told me if I lose my laughter and delight.

Go get a mirror first thing in the morn and see the funny sight.

So I did as he requested and found laughter looking back.

In fact, it was so funny that my frown started to crack.

I laugh at you my wrinkles; I laugh at you my grey hair.

I laugh at this old lady who looks back from the mirror there.

I laugh at the light pink ears showing through the thinning hair.

I laugh at the squinting eyes and I laugh at the amusing stare.

I laugh at the growing nose, now much too large for the tiny face.

I laugh at what the years have brought and all that they replaced.

I laugh at the drooping double chin and the dimness of my eyes.

I laugh at every part of me it feels better than the cries.

So I took all this built up laughter and went outside to share.

All these comical things I saw that day, in my mirror there.

Oh, so many people chuckled when they saw what I had seen.

I couldn’t keep the laughter to myself for that would be too mean?

Why try keeping this funny face hidden and just for me alone?

When it’s more fun to share it, it’s like giving a dog a bone.

So when your frowns won’t disappear just get a mirror out.

Look deep inside and you will see your own funny looking snout.
