We Can Be...

We can be gentle thoughts
Tripping through your mind in quiet moments
We can be soft laughter
At the edge of your consciousness
When you least expect it
We can be twisted sheets and sweaty thighs
Open mouthed kisses
And loving sighs
We can be the thrill that keeps you awake
Or the lullaby that helps you sleep
We can be the present under your Christmas tree
And the candles on your birthday cake
or
We can also be the bull in your china shop
Trampling on your emotions
A wrecking ball of misunderstandings
Knocking over walls
A unfeeling, crushing machine
Out to break your ….
anyway
We can be the nightmare that you can’t shake
The heartache you can’t mend
The lies you haven’t even begun to tell
The games you forgot how to play
And the rules you know too well
We can be
Whatever
You
Want
Us
To
Be
And nothing you ever
Dreamed
We
Would
Be
We can be your all
Or your fall
Your dream
Or another scheme

How do you want yours, babe?

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone
