This was a hard day
Too many hours at a job that no longer
Works for me, wearing the same clothes for
longer than i care to admit
Talking to people who haven’t a clue
Only to discover they know more
Than I do
I walked out to the ninety degree
Afternoon, exhausted and despondent
Let down from stimulates that don’t last
Caffeine
And quick thrills that I wish could
Thank you
I walked aimlessly when I should have
Gone to sleep
Looking in people’s windows
A peeping tom in a mini skirt
Looking for vicarious thrills
a family sitting down for dinner together
a mother feeding her young son
Knowing I’m on the outside
always
looking in casually
Walking
Because I’m afraid to quit
Until the exhaustion
Carries me past the pain
And I know I can sleep

This gave me chills girl. I mean it. This is SO me. I'm always looking in from outside, don't wanna even try and GET inside because I know it will fit about as well as a Salvation Army write-off. Wow, you are so good.
