God, I was green when you met me
I still believed in fairy tales
Of love and commitment
Surely if I loved you with all my heart
You would give the same
I hadn’t yet learned about deceptions
The lessons were swift and painful
A whiff of Poison
When I only wear Ysatis
Of course, the older lady in the office hugged you
How could I be so suspicious
A pair of panties under your car seat
That certainly weren’t mine
But I listened to you lie
And wondered about deceptions
I nodded when you complained
About all the time you had to work
Was sympathetic
When you were down with the flu
I comforted you when you came back
But went on with my life when you were gone
I now knew about deceptions
So here I am, looking up into your eyes
For the first time in weeks
As our bodies cool and our minds engage
You ask me gently
If I still love you, if you are my only man
I look deep into your eyes
And smile that loving after sex smile
And say you’ll always be my only love
God, I wish you hadn’t taught me to play so well
This lying game
Called deception
Once again, this is just a poem about deception, not about me...although i'm sure it could be at some point in my life
