You always brought me flowers
A dozen roses hid your lying eyes
When you stayed out all night long
A single rose for your little white lies
Lilies when I saw you out with her
Were supposed to make it right
You always brought me flowers
I began to hate the sight
A mixed bouquet when you forgot
And called me by her name
Tulips arrived the night after
That infamous poker game
I can’t count the green plants you sent
Over the last few years
When you felt me pulling away
Or giving in to suspicion and fears
You taught me the value of flowers
Oh, you taught me so much more
But I think you’ll get the message
A funeral wreathe on our bedroom door
Old memories coming back to haunt me...
