The gift of a poet
Is to say what one feels
In a way that others can relate to
Enjoy reading, or inspire emotions
We may write about the love
Of our life or the pain
But it should be generic enough
So that others can read their life
Or emotions into it
Reading intimate thoughts written
Specifically to another person
Makes me feel like a voyeur
An unwilling participant in their love
Or pain, sexual encounter, or coffee break
Whatever the situation
It is hard to place oneself in the concept
When it is so specific as to exclude others
Even the reader, who in all probability
Has no interest in the details
Only the thought, the inspiration
So in my humble opinion
Baring one’s heaven or hell
In complete panoramic color
For all the world to see
Leaves this reader feeling touched
By something too personal to share
