You cradled me in your arms
Swaddling me in the blanket of your love
When the baby in me cried
When the child in me laughed
You were there, tickling my fancy
Swinging me up and around, high
Laughing with me because its what you do
When the teenager in me came out
Like worrying about zits before the prom
You were there to calm my fears
To soothe my insecurities and make me
Feel all grown up again
But now I’m a woman, all settled and mature
And you are lost, you don’t know what to do
With this person I’ve become, this stranger
You never expected to have to deal with
I make my decisions now and you shake your head
Missing the days I would have waited to ask you
But darling its okay, we can be grown up together
Come to bed with me now, and I’ll show you
Exactly where we can start, this journey into us
