Awakenings

The time is almost here, I can feel it in the air
Summer isn’t here but winter is long gone
The things in me that stir with the warm weather
Are raising havoc, causing me to feel things
That winter had made dormant, causing awakenings
And isn’t that what spring is all about
Awaking, hearing the birds sing, awakening during
Long warm nights to feel the urge to move
To grasp, to grope, to feel, isn’t that what its all about
This thing we call spring, isn’t it about awakenings
And I feel myself awakening and I’m happy to know
That the desires are still there, the urges still alive
Just lying quietly all this long cold winter
I want to get out and plant flowers, take walks
Make love, sit on the patio of a quiet café
The urges are all there, and they are awakening
