Katie you answered our nations call,
you gave injustice and crime your all.
As a police officer you stood tall,
what about a mother the angels your cover!
Every good and perfect gift,
comes form our God above,
He bestowed upin you many gifts,
the greatest of yours was love!
In a world almost gone mad,
your parents mourn their tears overflow,
with the family bond of love so strong,
straight up is the only way they know!
You left a heart full of gold,
in your son your legacy unfolds.
We know his is good already wise,
whatever his endeavor a Pulitzer prize!
We thank you for those 33 years,
that smile, great joy, now the tears.
Like Jesus Christ, Michael you're not alone,
Your Father in heaven welcomes you home.

This poem touched my heart deeply. How very sad that her life was cut short, and by a senseless act that never should have happened. If only she could have gotten away from him, left him when he first started the abuse maybe she would be alive today. So many abused women are afraid to leave. I feel for them, and I feel for this brave Policewoman who worked to keep her town safe when she herself wasn't safe from her husband. I pray for her son, who must face life without his parents, the questions he must have. God bless and be with all the abused who face fear every day. Thank you for sharing this poem, its says volumes.
Blessings & Peace,
~Linda
