Surround sound becomes my friend
A good book keeps me company
Alone I enjoy four-part harmony
Blinds closed to keep the world out
Wine consumed by those devout
My choice was made long ago
To live alone as I grow old
Unhealthy to some who disbelieve
That meditation seems to relieve
One from life’s daily crap
Leaves everyone with some handicap
Ears attuned to a string quartet
Heavenly sounds and space intersect
Melodious and resonant vibrations abound
My soul refreshed by sweet sounds
An orchestra plays inside my head
The conductor stands before my bed
A final overture fills the room
Lifts me up from senseless gloom
Tympanic beats penetrate my skin
My thoughts now muted from within
Alone by choice I think not
But my music is all I got
