Hiding in my closet
Things aren't what they seem
Here I can escape to the moon
In my world of dreams
No one can touch me
As I live in fairy tale land
Where the sun is always shining
As I run in the sand
Hiding in my closet
I can soar up to the sky
Where little kids don't suffer
And they don't have to cry
I'm taken out of the darkness
In the safety of my world
Where only dreams can make me
A happy little girl
Hiding in my closet
Praying they won't see
The places that I travel
While they hit on me
Sometimes I just lay
On a fluffly cloud so white
Letting it protect me
From the evils of the night
Hiding in my closet
I can soar up to the sky
Where little kids don't suffer
And they don't have to cry

Powerful gut wrenching poetry, Linda!!!… So glad to see you back posting your timeless treasures again, Poet!!!… Please, be careful with those darn Meds!!!… Hope you had a wonderful holiday!!!
i wish my imagination was working as a child like it is now
my mind was just blank just dark with "why" and in the letter "how"
very well coined for the lucky ones......
Touching and powerful your message here. I could feel that child and see also.
Hopefully one day we as humans will stop hurting and making other suffer and for sure children shouldn't
Thank you for writing on such a terrible part of our world

Linda, when i was little, i used to hide in my closet too - my imaginary friends and dolls were so much nicer than what lived outside. This poem was like a flashback into my memory. Thanks.
This second book in Edie's 'Puddle' series is filled with wonderful catchy rhyming poems that have positive nostalgic messages. Her whimsical illustrations carry the poems along on ripples of warm vibrant colours.

happy july 4th to you, my friend; may it be safe and happy for you!
This is a heartfelt write, Linda. Many can relate to this write. You have an eye for observation and a heart of gold. A well-written piece indeed.
