Deep inside myself
So I can't feel
Scars on my heart
To deep to heal
I hear the children play
Normal girls and boys
Perfect white houses
Room full of toys

Tear stained sheets
Draped on my bed
Sometimes I think
I'd be better off dead
Why do they hit me
Is it because I am small
Does it give them power
Nothing makes sense at all

There's a special corner
Deep in my heart
That's where I hide
When the beatings start
I hold everything in
I don't dare let them see
The damage they do
When they're hurting me

I cover my bruises
Swallow my pride
Knowing with every blow
I'm dying inside
Scared of the shadows
Knowing I can't tell
Wishing someone would come
Rescue me from this hell

Straight from the heart... We are all products of our environment...
I, too, am a product of abuse. I survived but not without internal turmoil.
Great expression and flow...

Dear Linda,
I am so glad I found your den. I bear witness with your words. "Wishing someone would come rescue me from this hell." I have been there and I can empathize with your pain. You make me proud my friend for you prove once again that survivors of abuse have an abudance of creativity in our heart.

Love and Prayers,
Linda

Linda,
This is so very common and lot of times we don't realize it,because they look so normal on the outside. You depicted her feelings so accurately. I know this because I was a little girl just like this. I sat and read this with tears in my eyes. It just breaks my heart!

So sad Linda and to know that this is happening in the world all over hurts me so. I pray that those who cause this pain on an innocent child will suffer to no end. Rose

Very sad and poignant Linda. Reminds me of those tragic ads on the Tv. The words here really bring it to life, well done, love Theresa.

Linda,
The first of your works that I have reviewed; more to come. This is good and the comparisons made here between animate and inanimate objects really makes a vivid image in this reviewer's mind's eye.

George

Skin made of shadows so the little girl could hide.
As nobody can see what's inside, nobody will ever give that caress to alleviate the pain in the wond.
She will cry, and we will not know why.

Such pain and sadness in the heart of a child is not right and it brings pain to me to even think of this cruelty. NO punishment is harsh enough for those who abuse. Thanks for always making sure nobody forgets that this is an ongoing battle to end the treatment.

Oh my what a touching write, very emotional and heartfelt. As a teacher I witness children whom are hurting as your poem describes. Such a sad thing abuse of any kind. But to hit a child or an old person, well that angers me! It takes a sick coward to do such a thing, but the sad reality of it all is that it goes on day in and day out! I think of the word in the bible, where it speaks about not hurting God's little ones. I think there is a special place in torment for those adults who intentionally hurt children...sad write, one that tugs at the heart!

Joyce B.

I can understand how the little one's
feel, because I had many a bruise to show for it.
I survived somehow.
Linda, I would have been blessed to have some
like you around to talk too. To let those feelings
of mine go out to you when I was little.
Adults apparently are sick who continually beat and
hurt their little ones..
Thanks for sharing Linda..
With love your friend...Ron

Linda,

So sad that some children go through such pain. Makes one want to take the bruises for her. How can a person feel power hurting someone so vulnerable is beyond comprehension. Peace to You Always my friend. Blessings, Paul.

Far too many little children cry, and far too many have endured that hell, but they truly do need very compassionate spokespersons like you, Linda.
