Rocka bye baby
On Daddy's knee
I cried to loud
Then he hit me
Called me a name
I slammed to the floor
I wish Daddy wouldn't
Do this anymore

Rocka bye baby
Mommy's not here
I'm so scared
Numb with fear
Bleeding from a
Blow to the head
Daddy don't love me
He wants me dead

Rocka bye baby
It hurts so bad
This is the worst
Beating I've had
Daddy took off
Slammed out the door
I'm laying in blood
On the cold floor

Rocka bye baby
I'm fading fast
Don't know how much
Longer I'll last
A key in the lock
I hear Mommy scream
God, please let this
Be a bad dream

Rocka bye baby
People all around
Whispers and tears
I can't make a sound
Ambulance blaring
Blinking lights
Going so fast
In the dark of night

Rocka bye baby
Hurting and sore
Hope Daddy can't
Touch me anymore
I close my eyes
What do I see
Is that an angel
Coming for me

Rocka bye baby
I hold out my hand
The angel smiles
And I understand
She lifts me up
In her arms
Says she'll protect
Me from all harm

Rocka bye baby
The ambulance gone
More peace and joy
Than I've ever known
No more pain
The angel took it away
No more fears
Of a haunted yesterday

Rocka bye baby

Linda you have filled my eyes with tears as I know this happens far too often. It is so hard to imagine an innocent child that can't defend themselves against a coward who would never stand up to a man.
Thank you for sharing.

Maybe it was better baby Rocked outta there. Now that old Daddy needs a rocking--like a big boulder smashed against the side of his worthless head!!!

The saddest part of this piece is knowing the scenario is real and that it happens every day. This poem exemplifies the horror from a child's point of view. I truly hope this is not autobiographical. In either case, it is well done.

You do these so well, Linda, and bring home the horror of abuse.
Well done.

Blood red with sadness...well written...sometimes little ones are better in the arms of angels...sad to say daddy was not.

How sad this poem is because of the too-often truth it reveals. And I have a feeling a lot of this kind of stuff goes unreported unless it ends the way this poem ends.

I am sure that it is not forgiveness, even after repentance, for those that practiced Hell upon their children, because the Lord said it "harm one of my children and you will no enter in my house"

Linda,

Oh, this one hurts: gets in and makes the reader wish they could rescue the abused little ones in this heartbreaking poem. Well done, nobody writes 'em like you do.

(((HUGS))), love and prayer, Karla. *tears*

Far too many haunted children, and you tell their horrid tale so very well, Linda.

You've brought tears to my eyes this morning with this tragic but all too often realistic write. Just watched on the news where a father was sentenced due beating his five month old child to death! We live in a world full of sick people. Drugs has destroyed our nation for the most part...I can imagine satan laughing at those whom he has already destroyed, I wonder how much more the Lord will be able to stand before He sends His angel to sound the trumpet to gather His people. I also wonder about the multitude of children that will be in heaven...millions no doubt! You've penned a heart touching write here my friend...so glad that we have the arms of Jesus to rest in when life gets too hard and later to rest eternally! Wonderful offering!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
