The roads getting long
The hills harder to climb
Newspapers full of hate
Everywhere there's crime
Shadows dance around me
And I can't hide anymore
I don't have the strength
That I always had before
Dreams vanish from my sight
On the wings of a star
I'm weary and tired, Lord
I'm ready when you are...

It seems I was always dealt
The thorn and not the rose
I did the best I could
For I know how life goes
I've always welcomed shadows
Instead of walking in the sun
The race was always over
Before I had begun
Dreams vanish from my sight
On the wings of a star
I'm weary and tired, Lord
I'm ready when you are...

It hasn't been all bad
I also had good years
Smiles was somehow mixed in
With the pain and tears
Where I used to stand tall
My feet stumble along the way
Morning's find me waking up
To face another day
Dreams vanish from my sight
On the wings of a star
I'm weary and tired , Lord
I'm ready when you are...

this is our 'destiny', all of us...we cannot escape it. and it boils down to either accepting it or...fighting it. i'd rather...'im ready whey you are...'. excellent and thank you

Linda, I am so overwhelmed with joy and sadness at this write though magnificent and inspiring. It is very incouraging, we must forge on and look towards the hills from whence comes our help, remember our help comes from the Lord. We are soldiers in the Lord of Host army and must fight until called home to glory: until such time we shall prevail.

As we age our bodies fight with our intentions and we ache and our bodies fail like never before. The failing eyes, the loss of hearing and the sore muscles that dampen our spirit are simply war wounds my dear, medals earned by each of us in many battles. But each morning brings a new day and another chance to pay back what we've been given, for we deserved nothing going in, and for that we must thank God, today and every day. Very thought provoking Linda. Don't leave us yet, you may be ready but we're not ready to say goodbye :)

A beautiful write, but so sad and dreary. I hope it was just a thoughtful write from out of the blue instead of out of you.

I had an old friend that said "everyday is a good day to leave." But, don't go until you've written a million more poems. I loved this poem.

The world's truly in dire shape today, and I wonder if we'll ever find the right path once more.

Oh No Linda not ready just preparing. What a touching write that will grip the heart of all who read. We've all been there, done that. Life sure is tough but there are always joys mixed in with the trials. Grab on to them and hold them tight and they help get you through those thorns. God bless you, you still have lots of writes to do, so you're not going anywhere my friend. Love, Bonnie
