Mama, How can I convey how much
I've missed you through the years?
The many time's I've wanted to talk
to you - the many hurting tears.
Mama, how can I tell you just how
much you mean to me?
You taught me values and lessons
that a child couldn't see.
Mama, I never- ever thanked you for
the hours that you spent-
Cooking meals , and cleaning house-
How fast those years went.
I wished I had hugged you more- played
less - sit and talked to you-
But it seemed as a little child there were
more importaint things to do...

Mama, I want to thank you for the love
and tender care-
Oh , how I took for granted, Mama, just
knowing you were there.
There's so many things I could have done-
so many things I wish I'd said-
Now it's too late - the pages have been
turned..the book read.
Mama, I hope you know I love you-
and I miss you, Oh, so much!
The passing years haven't taken away
the hunger for your touch.
Forgive me Mama, for not realizing all
the hardship you went through-
Raising eight children couldn't have
been all that easy for you.

Mama, what were your dreams - your
thoughts, your fantasies-
Were they all lost with dirty diapers,
feedings , and skinned knees?
Mama, were you happy? Were you
fulfilled in your life?
Were you content as a Mother
and being a good wife?
Mama, did you ever cry like I'm
crying for you today?
Did your heart ever ache - for the
words you didn't say?
Mama, I'll always love you - and cherish
your memory-
As a Mother myself I realize there was
so much I did'nt see.

Mama , what were your dreams- your
thoughts- your fantasies-
Were they all lost with dirty diapers,
feedings, and skinned knees?

Authors Note: On a cold , dark October night my mama had gotten off work. She was crossing the road in the pouring rain. A car hit her...dragging her 75 feet....then knocking her in a ditch...the driver left her. She was only 39 years old. He was since found . He was a known alcoholic and was probably drinking at the time. Mama left eight kids behind...the youngest only seven. I am continuing my fight against drunk drivers. They don't just take away a life..but the lives of those left behind are forever scarred. My mama is an angel now.....it's the ones left behind who are hurting. WE LOVE YOU MAMA!

God bless you Linda Mae for this beautiful expression of love to your Mother. It
brought tears to my eyes as it must have also effected your brothers and sisters when they read this. It is so heartfelt and written with such terrific insight. I hear your heart beating out its rhythm of love for her, and I hear your souls voice with its warm and deep comforting words to her, and I believe somewhere she can hear you and is now holding you in the comfort of her invisible arms. Your poetry touchs the soul and touches me deeper than anything I have ever read. God bless you and all your family. My heart if filled with love for you always. Bill. Hugs

Linda,
I empathetically agree with Amor. The distance between loved ones through death is but a veil. Knowing that you find confirmation of that continuing relationship,

Linda, this is such a beautiful tribute to your Mother. I honestly believe she knows what you are feeling and nodding yes to each of your questions. There were no words left unsaid that she doesnt already know the answer to. God bless your heart.
