I remember my Mama washing
Clothes on a board out back
Her fingers raw and bleeding
But she never took up slack
I would swing up and down
Mama's little girl
I never gave a thought to her
Or what made up her world
I remember that old wooden table
Benches on either side
And when she had supper laid out
She'd call us all from outside
I never heard her complain
Tho her work never seemed to end
If only I could have seen back then
But a child can't comprehend
I remember the old sewing machine
Mama used so faithfully
We never bought from the store
She'd sew for my siblings and me
From Easter dresses to school skirts
All done by Mama's tired hand
Never a thank you from us kids
We just didn't understand
I would swing up and down
Mama's little girl
I never gave a thought to her
Or what made up HER world...

It seems so natural to grow up and realize all the things we didn't understand back then. I like how you capture that here. Those thoughts bring back memories. A lovely poem with soft sentiments. Hugs, and have a happy mother's day.
