Poem Artwork

A mother waiting
In a sterile hospital room
Her days nearly gone
Darkness like a tomb
She goes back in time
Raising kids alone
Her husband left long ago
Now her children grown
The silence like a whisper
Thoughts running thru her head
Lost moments in time
Words left unsaid

**************************

A son goes off to war
Fighting for our right to be free
A Father with unshed tears
Don't understand,  he don't agree
The son's battle rages on
Gunfire and death all around
He can't shake off the fear
His lifes blood spilling the ground
His Father's tears flow
As they tell him his son is dead
Letters that went unwritten
Words left unsaid

***********************

How many moments
Have we let just slip by
A lifetime of regrets
Measured by the tears that you cry
Words like I Love You
Why is it so hard for us to say
We don't live forever
None of us are promised another day
Don't wait until its too late
And all you see is an empty bed
Time waits for no one
Words left unsaid

Linda,
How true indeed! My illness reminds
me of this every time I get sick.
Love ya!

I love the way you use your voice to speak for those who cannot. Each of these situations - these lives- touch me through your words. Hugs,

Linda,
We've probably all been there at one time or other. I also find that making amends for words that were said and not truly meant are as importants. Making peace with yourself & others is all so important. Peace, Blessings & Friendship Always, Paul.

Linda, your message rings true with most humans -- we that have the verbal and mental capcity to relate our thoughts, emotions to others -- and yet, we always wait, for that just right moment, that never comes -- what fools -- to speak too many words, especially the simple, I love you, would be less foolish -- pride, ego, self indulgent thoughts too often prevail where love and humanity should be in residence -- your poem inspires us to amend our ways of ignorance --peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

SO TRUE...ONE SHOULD NEVER LET THE OPPORTUNITY PASS THEM BY TO SAY THOSE PRECIOUS WORDS TO SOMEONE THAT IT WOULD MEAN SO MUCH TO. WELL DONE AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS.

Time is in God's hands, His alone. We should cherish and enjoy the time that is before us loving one another and say I love you often! As you indicated in this beautiful poem. Thank God for you sister, Linda.

We need to take the time to say I love you, the time to say we care.
