To See Her Smile Again... ( A true story )

Beautiful little baby with
Skin so fair
Bright angel smile with
a ribbon in her hair.
I had you for a year
You brought me happiness
With your little arms around me
and a sweet good nite kiss.
My precious Jessie, you were
my pride and joy
I loved watching you sleep
With your favorite toy.

A beautiful year you gave me
Then you had to go away
The tears I cried when you left
I'll never forget that sad day.
As the weeks went by my
thoughts were of you
The pain was so intense
I didn't know what to do.
The weeks turned to years
Time went swiftly by
At night I'd think of you
I'd lay there and cry.

Sixteen years have come and gone
We've found each other once more
Today I will see you again
My Jessie will walk through the door.
From baby steps to dancing
Oh, the changes I will see
From a baby to a young woman
You come back to me.
Not treated well in your life
No Daddy to call your own
You weren't happy, my little girl
But how could I have known?

Come to me , my darling child
Look into my heart
For I have loved you all these
years that we were apart.
You haven't ever been alone
For I was the wind in your hair
I was the butterfly you held
I was your teddy bear.
Your Daddy still loves you
so wipe away that tear
Come to my waiting arms
Let me hold you near...

Thank you for the poem, our reunion was wonderful and ended up lasting late into the evening. This time saying goodbye came easier knowing we will soon be seeing each other again and with not much time passing in between visits. Jessie has grown into such a beautiful and sweet young lady who any man would be so very fortunate and proud to be called her daddy (and I am).
Thanks again for this beautiful poem.

Dearest, your writing is always so touching and you bring so much insight to it. I deeply admire the honesty in all you do. You touch on subjects that others like myself
pass without even a notice. You are sweet and wonderful and a great poet. My heart sings in your presence. Bill
