Dressed and waiting in her room
I roll up the shades to hide the gloom
She tries to smile as she looks at me
But a glimmer of a tear is all I see
She stares at the pictures on her wall
As she hopes at least one will call
Maybe they will visit, I hear her say
As she sits alone for another day.
Shadows linger as she watches the door
Tears come , too tired to wait anymore
And ache in her heart that won't go away
She resigns herself to no visitors today
Patiently, I get her ready for bed
I hold her hand, not a word is said
As she closes her eyes I hear her say
They haven't forgotten me, tomorrows
Another day
Another patient buzzes me, I have to go
I wipe away my tears hoping they won't Show..
