Poem Artwork

Alone.
No one can hurt me
In my own
Dark world
Of pain
I can't feel Mommys
Beatings here
Or hear Daddy call
Me stupid
Or no count

Alone.
In a black void
Somewhere in the
Recesses of
My mind
Hiding here
Where Mommy can't
Find me
Blows can't
Touch me

Alone.
Where Daddys don't
Come home drunk
And raging
And Mommys aren't
Allowed in
Swallowed in a
World hidden
From anyone
My own corner
My own hell

Where Mommy can't
Find me
Blows can't
Touch me

Methinks how many are suffering like this now,

Like their only cry hits wilderness, in their private hell.

Deeply moving..

This took my breath away.
I've seen too many children who need to be alone. What a terrible need.

Ahh this is my specialty.. These feelings.. trying to hide from the impossible monsters.. Never really can. They are in her own private hell.. and in some ways will always be. Very sad reminder. Excellent message here.

So harrowing...deeply touching. And the artwork is a perfect accompaniment. You write on this terrible social problem very, very well.

Linda, my friend this is such a sad and heart wrenching write. The loneliness of this child is so profound. Both in your words and in the picture.
