For my beautiful daughter...whom I will love beyond forever.......You're beautiful!

Poem Artwork

Gazing in wonder
At the child in her arms
She promised to love her
Protect her from harm.

Motherhood not something
For which she could prepare
But she swore that her daughter
Would know that she cared.

She was a fine mother
The best she knew how
Made lots of mistakes
But got through them somehow!

Then one day her daughter
A woman now grown
Moved out of her arms
For a life of her own!

Her heart became heavy
Where had the time gone?
What purpose had she
Now her child had moved on?

She knew beyond doubt
Things were how they must be
That her daughter must seek out
Her own destiny!

But she holds onto memories
She treasures like gold
Of that babe in her arms
She give anything to hold!

OH Anna, you made me cry with this one. Everything you said in here is so precious to every parent's heart, and so true for the child when they grow up. They may not be famouos or rich, but if they turned out decent we did a wonderful job as parents. By the soft, loving tone of this poem, I know you are the epitome of parenthood. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much lve in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister, Barbie

Anna, This is so beautiful for your daughter. Being a mom is the best thing I have ever done and now I have more compassion for my own mommy. Hugs, Chessly

A beautiful tribute to your daughter. I am a father with 2 sons, and I wonder what happened to those days as well. May God bless you every day of your life.

Like life and death, this is such a true part of life. I remember how my wife cried when my eldest son moved out... Then I remember how she cried when he moved back.
Great poem, my friend.
Your friend, Mark

Lovely sentiments, Annabel. Beautifully written, as only a Mother who deeply loves her daughter, now grown and on her own, can pen. A very good write and example of the "Empty Nest" syndrome, from a mother's point of view!

Our children are our jewels. They are always there for care, except after we are 6 feet under. A fine piece of writing, Annabel.
