Man does not live by toast alone.
He must have coffee.

I was caught up in
A wild dream
and havin' the time
of my life.
I was richer than Midas,
in Beaverly Hills,
and a super model
was my wife.

Then I came awake
killed the alarm,
and dragged myself
out of bed.
On the way to the bathroom
I fell over the dog.
and smacked myself
in the head.

I showered and shaved
and near cut my throat
as the paper hit
the front door.
I went to the kitchen
for liquid salvation
but no one had gone
to the store.

The coffee was gone
what more could go wrong?
I just couldn't see;
why was the universe
pickin' on me?

Somehow I knew
things wouldn't get better.
It's darkest just
before you die,
not every cloud is
lined with silver
and there's no use
askin' why.

The coffee was gone
what more could go wrong?
I just couldn't see;
why was the universe
pickin' on me?

It's the end of the world
abandon hope for normalacy.
The end of the world
is an empty cup that's
starin' back at me.

I'm reminded of the cartoon where a guy says, "I should have stayed in bed today." The next frame shows his broken bed with a huge safe in it obviously having fallen through the ceiling. Good write.

What a way to start the day. Some days we woke up from the wrong side of the bed. Well, at least your dog didn't bite you. Heehee!
