I waited by the bathroom door,
A kid comes out, and then one more.
The showers likely cold again,
I’ll wait awhile, and take it then.
Now breakfast is a sweet affair, With Bobbie’s sneeze, and Sissy’s hair.
My cereal is almost wet,
More milk today, I won’t forget.
The dryer’s full, the washer too,
The doggie ate my other shoe.
Who spilled the Coke, and broke the vase,
Won’t matter much, in any case,
Cause I’m still trying hard to find,
Which one of them has flipped my mind.
I’m also trying hard to find,
A quiet space, inside my mind.
They come by one’s, or in a pair,
They sing, they dance, they sit and stare.
Their music’s booming in my ear,
Whether far or whether near.
Daddy, he just mumbles on,
Mama’s looking pale and drawn.
What is this place? Not planet earth!
For I have lived here from my birth,
It’s hard to tell what gets my goat,
With one phone line, it’s all she wrote.
