I will keep the faith.
I will finish the mission.
I am an American soldier."

Our Soldiers Go Marching On…

As we celebrate Memorial Day

We reflect on all that we have, today

Because so many, before us, have given their all

The stripes of red in our flag

Are the symbol of their sacrifice

Life-blood spilled that freedom may endure

If you do not support those who protect you

If you do not believe in their fight

If you do not breathe the memory of our fallen

Then you, too, are the enemy of freedom

The sun rises upon another day

Our warriors go on with their routine

Another soldier will fall

A nation, a mother, a wife and a child

Will, once again, mourn our loss

This day is set in honor of them all

But everyday, as you place your feet

Upon the soil of freedom

Take a moment to be thankful for their sacrifice

That we do live under the protective wings

Of The Mighty Eagle

I hear the cry of the bugle

"Taps" floating on the breeze at sunset

Our nation weeps today

For all of our fallen children

Let us never forget

The price they paid (and that)

Freedom is never free

No matter one's political beliefs, one should always support, and revere, the gallant men and women in uniform, who don't make policy decisions, but do give their all, and often their lives, when called upon to do so.

Well said, Sherry. Kudos.

Lori is very right, our nation has given more blood and lives to other countries than any other in the present world in order to help them.
The taps portion hit me because I have attended a military funeral before and the tears do fly as the whole ceremony is extremely touching. J.

Wherever there is freedom in the modern world, you'll find the blood of Americans shed for others. Ours is not a perfect nation, but no other in modern times has given so much to others. We live in an ungrateful world... worse than that, we live amongst an ungrateful people. This is a great write.
