Told with dignity and panache. Some are material girls in a material world. Others are maybe just turning a trick until the Right Man or the Right Thing comes along. Fame and glamour are certainly not all they are cracked up to be... but some courtesans "turn lucky" and have the fate of nations in their laps - literally! Our English history seems riddled with it! Enjoyed the write, Sherry, and I suppose most are looking for Mr. Right, but every now and then I run into women of similar ilk to this stripper on the surface and they really are only interested in the money. It's like they've managed to shut off the hormones that cause women to seek deeper relationships and don't mind crushing the spirit of some nice guys. I wonder what's in store for them in their later years. Cool write. ~~Nordette

Very honest in most cases of the lonliness in the girls.

What a beautiful poem! I think strippers have a wish to one day stop this and start life afresh but their desire to have money and fame is far more tempting than standing by commitments. Thanks Sherry for this wonderful offering.

Superb take on this topic Sherry! As Jerry says there are all kinds of strippers just as there are people in all walks of life, so we can't just put them all in one category. I have seen stories of college students who do it to put themselves through college. Great poem! Sorry, the music didn't work...

Maybe. In your world. But back in the good/bad days of my youth I lived with three different strippers (not at the same time) in New Orleans and each and every one of them saw men who frequent the joints as tricks and nothing more. I really liked this poem, my words should not be meant to take away from this well-written poem.
