Out with the old and in with the new
Let’s give the boot to two thousand and two
Ring in the New Year and hope for the best
Will two thousand and three be up for the test
Do you think that freedom still can reign
Without causing others to be riddled with pain
Can we find peace and just skip the war
Or will the world be fighting forevermore
Will beggars still beg and robbers still rob
Will those without, finally find a good job
Will our land, be sacredly safe
Or will we fall prey to a terrorist fate
Will all our soldiers come safely home
Or will wives and kids still be on their own
Will our country cry for the loss of our sons
Whose lives are taken by enemy guns
The world is so tenuous, it’s so hard to say
What we will be facing with each coming day
I pray to the Spirit so high in the sky
Please don’t let another brave soldier die
I wonder if we can find a new way
To have safety and freedom for all, everyday
For the world to know peace and harmony
The life God intended, was for all men to be free
I raise a toast to everyone here
As we welcome in another New Year
And ask you all to give some thought
To keeping peace without wars fought
For if we all can find a way
To let freedom ring each and every day
Then two thousand and three will be the year
When all of mankind learns to live without fear

I keep thinking of what someone famous said once (can't remember who) but they said
'What if we had a war and no one came.'
Well,it was words to that effect,wouldn't it be good if we could just boot all the things we didn't want out the door....I would sure kick War in the butt.....I think we all would,I have to admit,I am very much afraid of the future lately,it all looks so bleak and I am at heart a coward ,I loath violence and threats I would make a rotten soldier.
If there really is going to be a war I might ask the world to stop a second so I can get off.....well,that's how I feel about it....scared.

Yes, no, maybe...hard questions to answer, we must continue each in our small way to help our future come about in a way that benefits the human race. Wonderful write on a lot of thoughts we are all faced with at the end of this year of 2002. Shine on in 2003, Sherry!
Well said... I posted one with a similar message last year. It was written 20 years ago. Nothing much changes but we must neverr give up.

This poem speaks with much wisdom and hope, it really touches me to see this kind caring and thoughtful artistry! With this kind of love and faith, how can we lose? As the power of the pen is truly mightier than the power of the sword! You words speaks out and they will scare the terror away, for they never were touched by love and compassion before!
It seems we just can't have peace. Why? The big pecker woods that run the show. But a beautiful sentiment and one I definately share. Happy New Years to you and yours. Oh and by the way I live in Colorado but visit New Mexico quite often. I love it there also. It's so beautiful!

Thanks for that cheer to the new year. In answer to your question here is how I see it. Yes the world will be free, but first humans need to disappear. (Or maybe just the ones bubbling with testoserone.)
