Skinny Dipping

This reflects on a late night swim with a man I loved dearly. He died way to soon.

 

 
Skinny-dipping;
The word alone
Conjures visions
Of tree swings, and
Innertubes;
Coltish boys,
Sun-streaked,
Mud-dappled.
Little girls
Were not allowed;
I stayed at home,
Sheltered,
And changed by
Dolly’s dresses,
And practiced
What my mother preached.
I was unaware
That at another time
Light years away,
Drops of liquid light
Would gather in a pool
In the hollow of your neck,
And, touching with my tongue,
I would quench a thirst
I never knew was there.
