This poem will tell you what happened to the man in 'Love's Separated Vision . . . '

Poem Artwork

The image in his rear view mirror grew larger

His foot pressed down harder on the accelerator

Wiped repeatedly the sweat from his brow

Rain slapped his windshield - poured down.

The inside of his ride started fogging up

He fumbled for the control to clear it up

All glass and mirrors were now perspiring

Wiped the inside mirror with his sweaty hand.

The image had moved - was now in his car

sitting in the back breathing down his neck

"What'ya want with me?" "Shut up and drive!"

This gruesome silhouette meant business.

"Take the next left, down that unmarked road!"

Made the turn, the car skidded - went into a ditch

Flipped over - he lay there bleeding and unconscious

Next thing, he awoke, driving down that muddy road.

Drove forever - came upon a petrified forest

The silhouette said, "Keep driving, don't stop!"

Then exited the car; into thin air it had disappeared

He tried hitting the brakes - the car only went faster.

As it entered the forest, everything slowed down

Inch by painstaking inch, the car and its occupant

turned to stone - both were now in the dead zone

A place where you're sent for all immoralities.

While he and his ride both sat there petrified, the

Angel of Death threw them both into a deep grave

"Here Lies the Two That Took a Young Lover's Life"

That's what the tombstone read - it was a hit and run.
