'somehow I must have been dreaming.'

Poem Artwork

If I have to leave

Will you still think

of me  - somehow I

really don’t want

to know, except when

I’m feeling lonely.

Wishing somehow you

Weren’t so distant; and

would I start having

second thoughts – then

I would want you back.

In my life; possibly.

These days a kind girl

Seems so hard to find

I thought you were until

you gave me the third

degree – somehow I must

have been dreaming.

We were once deep in love

As I caressed and held you

tight – but you had control

of our hearts and our fears

year after year; I now know

I was completely blind.

Let’s face it babe, love is luck

And that’s about enough for

me – you took out a gun and

put several bullets through the

ace of hearts; too bad the cards

were in my shirt pocket . . .

Lance,

You need a dose of Lady LOve, stat! Concur with Carol's astute comment: just a word unless you show and live it. Well done!

Excellent metaphors...And I have to say that I agree with Christine on this one...yes, it's the luck of the draw at times...but also equally as important how we play our hand.

...first time I went to Vegas I sat down to play poker..was dealt Four Aces..I was soo excited..so everyone dropped out..live and learn eh? Yes it can be the luck of the draw..but how we play our cards as well...Life is sooo painful at times.

Ooh, Lance, you got me, right in the heart! You devil. You keep pulling off these surprise endings and I just may have to keep reading them.

Love is not illusory, but only the self-hypnotic trance we choose to live in while accepting it. It so hard to snap out of sometimes, that we regret going there in the first place. Ah, but what an enchanted ballroom it is when we dance there!

Aaaaawwwww!!! I hope you will get those holes in your heart mended very soon!!!

Many of us have been in this situation at one point or other in our lives; but with or without love, life goes on. Chances are you might find another who can mend these holes in your heart.

Yes, Love is blind my friend and sometimes holes are left in our hearts, but they soon mend when the right one comes along. Well done and delightful, superb write as usual. Love and hugs, Bonnie
