To Be Loved Like This…

Do you know what its like,
To be loved so completely,
So deeply,
That no matter what you do,
No matter what you say,
They forgive you,
Understand that deep down;

You don’t really want them to go away…

Do you know what its like,
To be loved in your darkest hour,
When your heart is in such despair,
And you really don’t care,
What happens to you…

But someone else does;

And they don’t mind just sitting close,
Not saying a word,
Just by their presence,
Letting you know…

You are not alone…

Do you know what its like,
To push someone away so hard,
But they keep returning,
Saying to you in soft whispers,
“I don’t care if you don’t love me,
I love you so completely,
So deeply,
That no matter where you hide,
I will find you,
And make you mine…”

Do you know what that does to your heart?

To be loved like this,
Is every woman’s dream,
Then why is it I have nightmares?
Why do I fear to trust in this love you feel for me?
This love you try to share with me?
This love which frightens me…

With every fiber of my being,
I fight your love,
And lose…

Everyday I see your face in my mind,
And feel your love in my heart,
Hear your voice in my ears,
Always whispering,
I love you so much…

To be loved like this,
Makes me smile and cry,
Weep that I can’t bear,
To love you this much too…

So very sad and yet it can't be
a two way street that makes it
even the harder. This was so emotional
and I can relate Retta.

Superb, Retta, a rocks me to the core. I can hardly bear to comment, beyond being able to both sympathises and empathise with every syllable that your eloquent pen has written here with such luminous clarity and sensitivity - but immense consuming passion, too. This type of love is what I have been asked to think about for my college work (over and beyond icebergs, which is SUCH a relief!!): "passion in extremis" where the intensity is such that it causes a metamorphosis of the persons experiencing it, becoming almost mythical in its effects. You have got the tension just right, describing the love that liberates rather than curtails; releases whilst at the same time protecting. Just gorgeous, thank you. Kate xx

Retta, Over the years, I've learned one thing. That is, You can move mountains with only your words.
You can paint images like no other and when I've no question in mind, you can put many there.
Absolutely stunning work!
