From the first time
You called my name,
“Reindeer!”
I was touched by something I heard…
I could never describe it,
I don’t have the words…
But I tell you this,
I glad I didn’t miss
Your friendship when it was thrown my way,
I’m glad you wouldn’t let me
Turn you away.
You kept calling my name,
But my ears were closed,
And my heart was cast in a block of stone…
I was so determined to remain alone…
But no matter how hard I pushed you away,
You came back, and then you stayed…
And thus our friendship was born,
And a heart that was bitterly torn
Begin to mend under your tender hand.
God, to think that I would trust again…
I wanted nothing more to do,
Yet somehow found a friend in you.
Your spirit reminded me of someone I use to know.
Some one who helped me learn to grow,
Into the person I am today,
Loving his memory I saw in you that day-
I opened the door,
Wanting to hear more…
I watched as you listened
And saw you teach…
Wonder at your ability to reach
Out and touch so many lives,
With your words of poetry,
And the sharing of your life…
I see the way they come to you,
And watch the things you do…
And marvel at the ability of one so young,
The compassion and beauty of someone among
The uncaring world.
I don’t understand how you can hear
The words I am afraid to say…
Wonder at your ability to assuage my fear
When you look inside of me.
I don’t know how you see-
But you can understand what I am trying to be,
Accept what I am without judging me…
How did you learn to be all that?
So many people try to tell you
How much they appreciate all you do,
And you wave us away like its nothing,
But to us you are really something
To be admired and made to know;
Would you understand if I told you,
You are my Rainbow?
This is a Tribute to a wonderful friend,
Michael, you have given back that which
I had lost.

Michael must really be happy with this tribute from you. How could he not be. I can see how you think and feel and he must also. Very sweet poetry to your rainbow. Bill Murray
