Pulling Away...

Feels like you leaving,
Like you need some space,
Every time we get too close,
I watch you walk away…

I sit here and wait,
Hoping you will come,
Then when you do,
You’re so quiet,
I don’t even know if you
Are really here…

I know it’s just me,
And my insecurity,
But I feel like your
Pulling away,
And don’t know how to
Make you want to stay…

I think in your heart,
You’re feeling I’m too close,
And it feels like that to me too,
And I don’t know what to do…
So maybe you are right,
But it still makes me sad,
This damn circle of life,
Causing us both such strife,
And the games you try to say,
Games I never learned how to play…

I keep telling you,
I am not that way,
How do I make you see,
That is just not me?
What I say is real,
Yet you still,
Want to believe what you will,
And I do not know how to tell you,
How wrong you are,
Because to me you are this shinning star,
That lights my midnight soul,
The best person,
I will ever know,
Yet I bring you down,
Crashing your heart,
Tear you apart…
And then have to sit here
And watch you stew,
Over all the things I do,
That hurt you!

I never wanted it to be like this!
I just wanted to be your friend,
Open my heart,
And let you in…

Now maybe you can understand,
Why I left the only man,
I loved so much,
I could not bear to do to him,
What it is I seem to do to you,
When all I ever wanted,
Was to never make you blue…

Now you are standing there,
And you sadness is to deep
For me to bear,
And the blame is mine,
That I could not find
The words to say,
The hope you gave,
This dream of yours,
I took away…
Could not find the courage
In my heart,
To let you start
On the path that would
Have opened your heart,
To one thing you wanted
In the entire world…

So now I feel you pulling away,
And cannot find the words to say,
How deeply sorry I am for doing this thing,
That could only bring,
Such pain and sorrow,
To your life,
To you,
I think you are right,
It is time to end the fight,
Time for me to leave you alone…
I have been shown,
The evil that I have done,
The darkness that I am,
Has taken away your sun,
And I shall never forgive or forget,
It was me,
That took away your dream…

Wishing now,
We had never met,
Then you would still have your dream,
And the echoes of the scream
That I heard your soul make,
When you discovered my trust was so fake,
Would not be bouncing off my trees,
Leave me buried beneath my leaves,
Wondering how I could do
This to one such as you…

Retta, there is so much beauty and pain in this poem. It captures all the feelings in your heart and soul. It is also ambivalent in its movement ... back and forth ... wanting someone so much ... yet afraid of things happening again that happened before, and not sure what he wants. Seems like now he is not the same. If trust were violated, he may never be the same as before. Bill Murray ((hugs))
