My Love,
I see you in my dreams
At night,
When all lay sleeping
In their weary beds,
I see your face in the night,
Fighting sleep with its sight,
A face so damn sweet,
I almost wish,
We did not meet,
For now I do not dream,
Unless you are there,
Holding me in your arms,
Tried so hard to resist your charms,
Built me a Garden of Stone,
Only wanting to be alone…
Then one day,
I turned to see,
My love’s dream,
Staring at me,
How I ran!
How I hid!
So deep within my lovely woods,
I thought that no one ever could,
Find me again,
My heart screaming,
“Don’t Let Him In!”
My soul weeping,
So forlornly,
My heart a torn broken thing,
What love could I bring?
What hope,
What dreams?
When I am such a shattered thing?
And yet at night,
When I lay me down,
There is no peace to be found,
For I sense your presence even then,
In the shadows of my room,
In the midst of the gloom,
I see you there,
Waiting so patiently,
For me to admit I care…
How can I say it aloud?
My spirit once so proud,
Lays on the floor,
Watching the door
To my heart,
Bound with a thousand locks,
A hundred links in a silver chain,
That will never let love in again,
And yet there you stand,
The only man,
I have ever loved,
With eyes so beautiful,
That see through me,
And the love I cannot believe,
Holding it at bay,
I can see no other way
To make it though the day…
But at night,
I feel safe,
And you are with me,
In my dreams,
We walk my forest of trees,
With your love protecting me,
From the demons of my soul,
The demons I never want you to know,
Lest they mar that beauty that is you,
And this I may never do,
For in my dreams,
The love I do not seek
I have found in you...
