It's over now,
You have returned to your world,
And I have retreated to mine...
The silence is deafening,
The world I once found comfort in,
A cage of rude emotions,
And heartbreak...
I walk among my trees,
But they whisper no more to me,
I do not hear the birds sing,
And stare blindly at flowers
I no longer see...
I walk to the edge of my world,
And looking down,
See the path is clear,
Its depths calling to me,
As I balance on the rim...
There are no more fears,
Not even tears,
No pain to feel,
As my heart reels,
And remember a friendship,
That now lies dead...
What pain there is in your world!
Why did I ever venture out?
This is how it ends then,
With losing a friend,
With losing me,
And so much worse,
With losing you...

Rein--this was a very sad piece. It kinda reminds me of how you felt when a mutual friend of ours was converted to the dark side of the force and never came back. :-) LC

Retta, I can feel your loss and sadness. I am sorry that it is this way, but you have written a wonderful poem full of emotion. You have also wirtten it so that it comes across to the reader and is not hidden under mumble jumbo words. You can say what you need to and say it well. Few here can do that. They seems to try to create with smoke and mirrors. You have outstnding ability to express and say what you think and feel. I wish I had that same ability. Bill Murray
