Stepping Back...

Stepping back,
Crashing down,
Feel myself falling
To the ground…

You’re reaching out,
Holding out that hand,
But ya gotta know,
I don’t trust any man…

Returning from whence I came,
So sorry I cannot stay,
Well, not really,
Just sorry I told you my name…

Foolish of me to ever start,
Believe it when you said,
We would never part-

Should have realized even then,
You can’t leave if you never came,
So I’m not really feeling
Any shame…

More like a deep sadness,
Felt so deep within my bones,
Didn’t think I’d ever not want
To be alone…

Just stepping back into the night,
Knowing now you never meant,
A single word you said,
Pretending we never had that fight…

My friends said you were not real,
I should have listened then,
Not begin to feel,
Better to be alone,
Then let you crack the stone,

Making that large rock into pebbles,
That scattered on the ground,
Now I’m searching for the pieces,
But some can’t be found…

So I have it back again,
But is pitted and scarred,
Not like it was,
All of this pain because
I dared to take a chance,
Should have left my heart barred,

Caged in steel,
Wrapped in silence,
Nothing you said was real,
And now there’s nothing
Left to feel…

Stepping back now,
Everything so clear,
Returning to the Place,
You can’t come near-

Don’t know why,
I’m so afraid,
There’s nothing left
That you can steal,

Just need to remember,
You’re not even real…
Stepping back,
Going back in that cave,
Should never had tried,
To be so brave…

Thought you’d be there,
Watching my back,
How could I have known,
It was courage you lacked?

Its okay,
It’s all the same,
Just wish I had never
Told you my name.

Awesome, you have such a strong voice. I have learned that it is my own personal strength helps me overcome men who try to suffocate me. I know the same is true for you.

Just one thing:
"Should have realized even then,
You can’t leave if you never came,
So I’m not really feeling
Any shame…"

Maybe no shame, but a lot of pain. It doesn't matter if you never met. You were attached to each other intellectually and that is just as strong a bond as one that is sexual.

I can relate to it so well.
Okay, the person is real,
but the words weren't.
It could never materialized
It shouldn't even had started.

Anyway.....
it's okay to feel bad
Just think of it as a game
A game that big people play.

A fantastic burst of the energy of emotion in regret. If only life could be previewed before we reach certain critical stages, but then, would we truly learn to be the best that we could be?
