Let Me Go...

Let me go into my forest,
Where the trees will hide my tears,
Where I have nothing to fear,
And less to feel.
Let me hide among the leaves,
So green and dark inside,
Let me breathe in,
As they exhale,
And suck in their life…
Let me go into my world,
And never return again,
This place was ever my home,
Somewhere to go when
I needed to be alone.

The ground crackles under my feet,
Sounding like laughter,
The gentle breeze whispers softly,
Telling me things I need to hear.
I hear the hawk’s lonesome cry
As it flies through the sky,
And we both wait for the answer
We know will never come.
Let me go into my world,
Were all is safe and secure,
There was never a need
For anyone else to be here…

I sit upon the stone,
And watch the moon rise,
Wondering if I will ever dare
To drop my disguise.
I think not,
For few shall ever see
The creature that is me…

Let me go into my forest,
Where the trees know my name,
Where the wind sings softly,
And stars dance in the sky…
And I do not have to worry,
If someone sees me cry,
You really must let me go now,
I have tarried here to long,
And though your voice is pleasing,
I can’t hear my song…

I need to be alone again,
I never should have came,
I left my world too soon,
And have forgotten my name,
Perhaps the wind will tell me,
Maybe the trees will remind the gentle breeze,
Together they can sing it to me,
And I will listen with my soul
For the name I use to know…
But first my love,
You must let me go…
