Choose not just any path,
My friend,
For, I can only follow you so far…
You’d be wise to tread slowly…
For I’ve often been called over wary-
My years in the world,
Have taught me not to trust…
That the world is full of liars
And men who do not mean what they say…
So when you come to me,
Holding out you hand,
Asking me to trust…
I cannot reach to you
With the faith of a child,
My hand has been slapped away
Too many times…
Nor gaze upon your face,
With the love and innocence
Of they first time lover…
You ask me to let you be my guide,
And I fear so much
Were you are taking me…
Where will you lead me-
My friend,
Where are we heading?
I anger you with my fear,
And you do not understand
My hesitation…
Yet,
Of all the things I learned,
I have learned not to walk down
Dark and lonely alleys…
I fear the monsters that lurk there,
Hiding behind the bushes and fences…
You promise to be with me,
Holding my hand,
Giving me strength through that link…
Yet I tremble still,
Wondering if I have the strength,
Not to let you down again,
For this I fear more than the monsters,
That lurk deep within my soul…
Reindeer,
You have such a gift. This is another very beautiful piece.
