The moon rose casting its silvery hue-

But it held no mystery for me,

I was far too blue…



I slipped today,

And though you were at my side,

You let me fall,

Barely turned around,

To see how I was…

It did something to me-

Cracked open a door

That had long been sealed shut.

It wasn’t the first time-

Picked myself up,

Limped a little,

And broken-hearted,

I got stronger too,

And I remembered a time,

When I meant enough to you

That you would catch me when I fell-

Hold me in your arms,

And kiss away the pain…





I remembered that we use to love each other,

And then I remembered,

The little things that went away…

The way you stopped holding my hand

When we walked on a summer’s eve-

The way you frowned instead of smiled,

When I called your name-

The way my gifts of Love were tossed aside,

And never used-

And your time away from me,

Became more precious,

Then our time together…



I remember now,

How I let you go-

Thinking your freedom,

Was worth the price of my happiness-

I remember thinking,

You might find your way back to me,
