I sought to create beauty,
I wanted to foster love and hope,
I am shocked to see,
How utterly I failed thee...
How damned I am,
That I could not let you,
Love me...
I tried to make you a world,
A place you could be free,
How did it become a trap,
That I needed to flee?
How I feared what I would do,
My love would poison you!
That which I am so dark,
The world I made so stark-
You were the only light,
That held back the night,
Kept it from bleeding me dry,
And it always made me cry,
To see my blood on your shirt,
The crimson drops staining my skirt...
The ripping sound I heard,
Sounding so absurd,
As you bandaged the wounds
I carved under the bloody moon...
The sound of your weeping,
Echoing in the blood seeping,
From the wounds I could not refuse to make,
Cutting myself like a piece of steak...
Trying to find a way to end the pain,
Before it drives us both insane-
God we were doomed from the start,
I had to part!
Had to run so far away,
Keeping safe from the light of day,
And here I hide still,
Call as much as you will,
I will never come,
My life is done-
I will never gaze again,
My friend,
On the face of the sun...
Oh, Retta, the pain is so stark and confused in this piece...it pains me to think of any friend of mine in such mental agony. This was a spiraling ride into the depths of feelings.
Retta this is so sad and painful...God!! this is so bad that there are always pain somehow somewhere...in loving someone...I have come to that point...I don't think there is no such thing called trust anymore..
