Silent Cries

*This was written for a dear sweet friend of mine, after she had a terrible day, and was feeling very down.*

Silent Cries

She stands in the dark,
But hears the whispers of the light,
Enticing her to come and play,
But she turns away,
Not wanting to play that game,
Not today…

Still they call,
Then run away,
Laughing that they fooled her again,
Teasing that tender soul,
With whispered words of friendship,
Like she wouldn’t know they are lying,

And she is tired of trying,
Tired of seeing them,
Tired of being alone,
Tired of having a heart of stone…

How can she trust them?
Or any other who dares to call her name,
Those who seek to make her ashamed,
Of all the sorrow in her heart,
Telling her it was her fault…

So silently she cries,
And continues to live in the night,
Where none can see her tears,
Or mock her fears…

Yet she sees them,
And smiles at their fear,
Knowing they don’t believe
Her powers are real,

Until they see the green fire
In her strange eyes,
And then must look away,
Fearing her wrath,
As she fears the day…
But I am here,
And I know her name,
For we are the same…

She is my friend,
Who I seek to make smile again,
One who understands my pain,
Though they think us insane…

As I understand her,
For we are kindred spirits,
And together we travel,
Down this road of gravel,
Dark and dismal is our way,
But not today…

Today we are together,
And Dear Heather,
You do not travel alone,
On this lonely road,
Hoping you can see,
You have found a friend in me…

Retta, it is those who understand our pain can alleviate it or lessen it. I am sure Heather is thankful for this wonderful poem. You have so much love and insight in your heart; that it is a deep pleasure to know you and to read your work. Bill Murray

Reindeer,
She is so very blessed to have you spirited one as a friend. When I think of you after or before reading your poems I revel in the spiritual lessons I receive and I feel that your spirit is like a gentl dove. Excellent as always so wonderful a tribute for your special friend.

RETTA...this is so amazing. Absolutely the most excellent poem I have read all night. Your friend Heather is a lucky woman and I hope that your friendship with her takes away the, "whispers of the light,
Enticing her to come and play"
