I walk in my woods,
But they give me no comfort tonight.
Something is missing,
And I wonder if is me…
I feel so light,
My spirit rising,
To the top of my trees,
Without even trying,
And I keep hearing someone crying,
Sounding so lost,
I want to find them,
But I worry about the cost…
It is our way,
That if you save someone,
Then you must take on the burden
Of their care,
And I wonder if I dare,
Me,
Whose grip on life is so weak,
Dare I live for another,
When I can not see tomorrow?
Wishing it would never come,
That I never had to see the sun,
Rise again over my mountain,
Blaze in all its glory,
Mocking my sorrow…
Reminding me of my lost love,
Shall I never love another?
The leaves sway and whisper,
I hear but do not understand
The things they say,
It didn’t use to be this way,
What changed?
Who am I today?
This walk in the woods,
I thought would save me,
Thought I would see
The person I use to be,
But it is empty,
As empty as me…
