I Want To Color Your World...

I want to color your world,
In shades of gray,
Maybe then you will understand,
Why I could not stay,
Chose instead to run away…

I want to color your skies,
Ebony black,
No stars to see
Your glowing path,
Maybe then you will understand,
Why I can never trust any man…

I want to paint your flowers black,
And take away their lovely smell,
Maybe then you will learn not to tell
Me love will come back some day…

I want you to see the cliff on which I stand,
The cold lonely beaches of sifting sand;
Making you feel so unsettled,
Though nothing is as cold as the metal,
I hold in my hand…

I want to cut and see if my blood is red,
I think not, for look how much I bled…
The night takes away the colors
I don’t want to see,
And now that you know,
Will you let me be?

I want to color your world,
With broken crayons of different hues,
And see if you see what I do-

If your skies are still blue,
I’ll believe in you,
If your flowers smell nice,
Your love will suffice
To keep me safe once more
Before I close the door…

If you can find your way in my dark world,
Then maybe there is a chance for us,
But I think not,
For I have never learned to trust,
Those feelings you keep trying to thrust
On me, shoving me into the
Brightness of the day…

I am as blind in your world,
As you are in mine,
And I know you think you are being kind,
But I wish you would just stop trying,
Then I could stop crying…

I want to color your world,
So you can see,
I’ll never be
What you want of me.

I have to agree with all these people, Retta, Such beauty in your words. So much pain though.

But please do not estimate all men in the same standard. There a few good ones too :) :)
