I tried to let it go,
But it hurt so much you know,
To hear the words you said,
They keep echoing in my head…
Ya called me a joke,
And it made me want to choke
On the words I wanted to say,
But I saved them instead for today-
Cause I got those needles
holding my lips shut,
Felt so strong the urge to cut,
But I am not going to let you win,
Not again…

So if I am a joke..
Then what are you,
Cause I could not do,
What you told me too…
You can offer advice,
Then chill like ice,
When I don’t take it,
Makes you want to throw a fit,
But I am not you,
Can’t do the things
You want me to…

So I thought about the things you said,
Thinking Reindeer was better off dead,
But then I got mad,
And now I’m glad,
Cause it changed something in me,
Thought I’d let you see,
The person that I need to be-

So here I am back again,
Though it may cost me a friend,
I am taking my name back
Trying to make up for what I lacked…
The courage to let you see,
The real me…

So go ahead and call me a Joke,
Tell me I am no good until I want to choke
On those words you say to me,
And I am going to make you see,
I may not be as strong as you,
But what I am will have to do…

Cause I am tired of hiding,
Tired of your chiding,
Because I am not brave,
I am emerging from that cave,
Opening that door,
To walk among you once more-
But this time dear,
I am showing you no fear,
And get the name right,

My Name Is Reindeer

Do we have to come up there and give this guy a 'what for?" [smiles] We are very good at attitude adjustments and making people socially acceptable. [Well, most of the time]

Good one Rhetta.

Reindeer, your poetry is always so strong. Whenever you would review me you always signed Reindeer, so I knew that is how you wanted to be adressed. But I got lazy and used your shorter name, Retta. From here on out you will be Reindeer. Have you ever written a poem on what reindeer symbolizes within Indian society? I would find that information interesting.

Well done Retta. Nice of you to give the translation, but what about the original? :) :)
