Tasting Death

My friend,
In the agony of life,
You drift lost,
I am shadowing your pain,
And it is driving me insane,
My hands are trembling,
I can’t hold a thing,
Can’t even think…

The breeze of spring,
Tastes like Death,
And my every breath,
Is like ashes in my mouth,
Your pain a knife,
Twisting in my heart…

Every word I ever said,
Echoing in your head,
I meant it then,
But now,
I just want it to end…

I can’t bear to see you so,
You are everything good,
That I could know,
And never be!

Can’t you see?
We do not matter,
We are not real,
Only that, which you can feel,
Touch
Breathe,
That is what you must believe!

I know we never were,
Nothing but ghosts,
But you always mattered the most,
And this your pain,
Lose it!
What is there to gain?

You have a chance to live,
All you have to do is give
Her your heart,
Like you know you should,
How much I wish you could!

This taste of death,
I smell on your breath,
Breathing in your words like air,
As you claim you do not care,
But I do!

All I want is for you
To live and love again,
Have a true heart-friend,
Can’t you see?
This is your destiny!

This is your chance!
Don’t let your life bleed out on the floor,
Don’t lock and seal the door!
For love’s sake let her in!
And let your life finally begin…

Rein--This poem was fantastic! I am amazed at how you take actual moments and put them into black and white to make the reader feel and learn. Your work is truly exceptional! LC

Retta, the taste of death are so bitter. To call for him to open the door before he succumbs with her waiting there to revive him with love is the only thing to do. Right? Your friend Bill
