Rest In Peace

Come rest in my forest
and we will welcome you,
My friends and I.
You need not fear us,
for we are silent and true ...
Could no more betray you
than the Earth itself-
We blend into the forest
like the morning breeze...
You may feel us,
but you will not see our forms
whispering past you on our journey.
Come lay on the bank of my river
and rest your head on the mossy stone...
Lay your long body on the soft earth
and bathe in the moonlight.
Let the stars sing you to sleep,
and dream about the days of power...
The lives you held in your hand,
The deeds that now wear heavy on your heart,
And find forgiveness in the heart of the forest...
Let the Guardian find a way to ease the darkness in your soul,
Let her bathe your forehead in the waters that flow in the creek beds
and ease the fierce fire that blazes in your soul...I see your tread is heavy now,
The gray in your temples more pronounced,
The look in your emerald eyes weary...
Let me offer you surcease,
Let me show you the paths that the wolves run
on the nights of the full moon.
You could run with them until your lungs blaze with white fire
and your heart pumps the blood in your veins
until every vessel is raging with power-
Let me show you where the wolves go,
How the eagles fly,
The Mountains that strain to reach the sky...
Walk with me my friend,
Come into my Domain...
Let me heal the pain
that has ruled your life-
You have lain so many to rest,
offered them a kind of peace
they could never know...
Let me offer my forest to you,
You can sleep in the shadows
and walk our paths unwatched...
Lay on our beds,
and we will watch over you-
protect you from all those who
would disturb your repose...
Come my weary friend,
walk into my forest
and finally
Rest In Peace.

Strange that you should write this.. I have this "special" place on a mountain.. A little clearing that I think is heaven on earth.. wish I didn't live so far from my heaven.. I never got to attend my fathers funeral.. being the odd one out.. Sooo I decided and have ordered a stone to fly to this heavenly place.. A memorial to him and in a place I adore.. Perhaps this will enable him to reach me.. Such a serene heartfelt write!!

So serene ...I live on the edge of the 'Knysna' forest..and are very much part of it....if I look through my bedroom window it's right there with me.....all the yellow wood, blackwood and stinkwood trees...and believe me Old Big Foot the elephant is still close to where I live...ever heard of it??

Love

Rhetta,
You know as much as you enjoy my work I also enjoy yours. I love the journeys that I am able to take with you thru your vivid imagery of poetry. You show so much passion of different sorts in everything I have seen you write! This piece is another example of a journey that to me beckoned...haunting, magical, sad and so lovely!
((((Hugs))))

Reindeer,

So serene, I wanna be there. It reminds me of a place that I go to while taking paranormal photographs. Ahhh, very nice.

Peace, JC xoxoxo
