Don't look at me with
Those jade green eyes of yours,
Even you can't see past my doors,
And your magic won't work on me anymore...
Don't think I'll let you in
Just because you can see where I've been!
Those dragon eyes don't scare me-
I can look too,
Maybe not as deep as you-
But enough to make you let me be!
Those damn eyes,
Make it so hard to say good-bye-
Always changing with your moods;
now smoldering hot,
Frightening your Druids-
Now so dark the jade turns to red,
Making you look like the walking dead...
Those eyes a hard cold green,
Looking like a lion ready to spring-
Capturing its prey between his legs
Ignoring the cries,
As it begs to live for one more day!
But your eyes say it all...
They're just prey-
No, don't give me that dead eye stare-
I'll not be drawn into your lair!
No! Wait!
Damn, that's just great...
Don't look that way-
Those eyes I love look so sad,
Like all the world was lost in a day,
Nothing should hurt that bad...
It's just that those emerald eyes
Can freeze my heart,
And tear my soul apart,
Damn, I'm lost again...
Okay then,
When you've had your fill-
Keep pretending you love me still,
That's the only way you know,
I'll be able to let you go...
And keep those damn eyes
Turned away from me,
I know you can't understand what I mean-
But I can't bear to look into
Those eyes of Dragon Green
Without falling in,
And losing myself again...
Dear Retta, I love your style of writing.
I love this storied excellent poem. I am going off line now. However I will be back tomorrow . Sorry i did not do any reviews today!!
Reindeer, this one hit me. My husband has green eyes and I like to stare into the pool of his eyes and get so lost. It always reminds me of why I fell in love with him.
I know how it feels, to be a captive of the "eyes", and the mind game. Thank you, I love it.
