Dark Poetry

When he reached to grab my hand,
He saw all the blood,
And how it ran down the front
Of his favorite gown,
And I saw him frown-
But I wondered,
What caused him more grief,
The gown,
Or me…

He pulled me in tight,
And I could not even fight,
My soul to weary,
My body to weak…
And he hissed in my face,
“Stupid bitch, now what have you done?”
And all I could do was smile,
Because I knew I had won…

He was too late,
I could feel the voice of doom,
The sisters of fate,
Singing my name,
In the empty room…

They came then,
My precious three,
Sisters we were,
And would always be-
These lovely creatures,
Had come for me…

How angry he was,
This beautiful man,
This strong warrior of the Bear Clan,
Thinking he could fight off Death,
Stop me from taking,
My last breath…

My sisters smiled too,
Knowing there was nothing,
That he could do-
No way to make me stay,
Damn! How long I had planned,
To get away!

Then he bent and crushed me in his arms,
Pouring on his warrior’s charm,
Weeping in a voice once so strong,
Whispering to me how he was wrong…

Had loved me forever and so much more,
That he would follow me out that door-
Saying no matter where I went he would follow,
His words so empty,
Leaving me hollow…

It was ever about his need to control,
And mine was ever the supporting role,
And now he leaves me not even that peace,
Will not let me seek my own release-

Ah great and noble man,
Strong warrior of the Bear Clan,
My promise was to be yours till the day I died,
And you can tell all how much you tried,
To save me that dark night-
It wouldn’t even be a lie,
All you have to do,
Is let me die…

I look up at the red stains I see,
Thinking how mad you’re going to be,
But then I remember it no longer
Even matters to me…

I look down seeing the flood,
On your favorite gown,
Can’t help thinking,
Why frown?

It’s just blood…

Rein--this was awesomely written. The depth of the work of art is priceless. You've taken sadness to a new level. Your imagery was impeccable. It is always painful to see a loved one go. A masterpiece at best! LC

Rein,
That was incredible. It was dark but it bought out strong emotions and imagery. I can feel her pain and raw emotion. Excellent just excellent.
