I Love Falling...

The roar of the engines filling my ears,
the taste of anticipation feeding my fears...
When the engines cut and you motion me to you,
I smile, remembering what I plan to do...
Grabbing my shoulders roughly,
you hope to scare me whole,
But baby,
You just don't know...

I stand,
Staring below at visions of my doom,
See my body lying broken and bruised...
Smiling at last,
With hope in my heart,
I pull away and leap,
Arms flailed wide,
My way of trying to hug the sky.

Air rushing past me,
Like a whisper in my ear,
"Soon now, dear one,
You'll have nothing to fear..."

Lover yelling some obscene word...
I only hear,
"Pull the God-damn String!"
But I am deaf to his pleas...
Hear nothing but the sound of falling,
See only the ground rushing up,
Am hypnotized by the beauty of it all,
Damn! How I love to fall!

More shouting disturbing my reverie-
Can't help but think...
"Go away, damn you...
Can't you see I'm having a moment here?"

Every nerve alive and screaming,
Waiting for the ground to rise up
and kiss my soul...
" Damn... Who's that calling?
I don't care anymore-
I just love falling..."

Then something crashes into me,
Hands fighting for my ring...
Damn!
the chute billows out behind us,
And we are pulled up instead of down!
"NO!" I scream,
"I was so close!"
But he lands on his feet,
And we roll to the earth...

A whisper brushes my cheek
With cold dead lips...
A breath that speaks to my very soul...
"Maybe next time..."

On the ground he grabs me,
Looks into my eyes,
And hating what he sees..
Spits out his despise-
But I hear nothing,
See only the plane a dot on the horizon...
Hear only the whisper I do not fear;
"Maybe next time..."

So exciting. My wife loves riding over bridges, that is short steep bridges. She's afraid of long bridges.

Considering giving this a try except in my case I'll be pulling the ring :-) I felt the fall from your words. Great experience!

Excellent write. some people feel compelled to stop a nice sucide attempt. unless of course I missed the hidden meaning in this. but that is what it sounded like.
